Pool season begins Memorial Day weekend and ends Labor Day weekend; guards are expected to work for the vast majority of the season.
Qualities of Successful KAS Team Members
Mature - Lifeguards are chiefly responsible for the safety of patrons in and out of the pool; the importance of this position is reflected in the attitude and actions of our guards. Our team is expected to act with maturity beyond that of a typical highschool and college student.
Punctual - Lifeguards and Managers are expected to act professionally and arrive to work on time, and when scheduled.
Attentive - The importance of lifeguarding is in the name. Our guards are expected to remain attentive during their shifts. This includes constant patron surveillance and the identification of any safety hazards in and out of the pool.
Assertive - This quality separates the woefully average guard from the excellent guard. Guards are expected to make their voices heard and use a strong, yet respectful, tone to enforce the rules that keep swimmers safe. Guards must not be shy or unsure; they must be prepared to blow their whistle and act in accordance with the importance of their job.
Available - Our guards are expected to be available to work the majority of the season and where needed. Applicants with more availability will be considered before others.
